| Good vs. Evil
Why have we all grown up with the notion of Good and Evil? From prince charming saving the princess from the dragon or the evil stepmother, to knowing instinctively that harming others are bad. Why do we all have this notion of the big bad monster, and the fact that we ourselves are free to choose between good and evil?
Maybe it is pre-destined for us to choose between the real good and evil, God and Satan. Maybe deep down in our hearts, from our forefathers who created the first ancient folk stories of the evil witch and the innocent princess, we know the truth. That there is a spiritual fight on this earth, and has been since the day of creation, of the good forces fighting agains the evil forces. We do not see the fight, but we know somewhere, in this world or another, that it surely exists? That there is God's army of angels and holy creatures against Satan's minions and demons.
Perhaps it is why children have such great faith and have such an open heart to accepting God. Because they are the most innocent, and the purest of heart, and they see the truth before their eyes without any denial to oneself, and they themselves naturally wish to be on the good side of the army. When have you ever heard a small child say, I want to be a Satan worshipper? Never, unless they are older and influenced by people at school or the media. No child of 5 would ever have this idea all on his own. All children love everything that is bright and happy. I recall myself loving the sun and choosing yellow as my favorite color because it brought joy to my eyes every time I saw yellow. And to this day, sunflowers are still my favorite flower.
My point being that there is a real constant war going on all the time that most people are unaware of. That armies are being gathered, villages ransacked and pilfered, lives destroyed, new weapons and ways of destruction sought, new attacks and constant new battles, and then there is the good army, small in number but great in heart. Saving souls, healing, reparing the damaging, rebuilding the villages, protecting, and rejoicing too, with praise and song whenever a new soul is saved into the Book of Life.
Personally, this fairy tale is much more exciting than your cinderella or latest Harry Potter novel. Because this is a true fairy tale, happening to real lives and real people all around us. And as for all the fantasy creatures? What better than angels and demons and monsters, and the big bad Satan Voldemort that will surely never ever die, and Jesus as our hero and access to the great celestial army of souls, celestial creatures, prophets, and angels?
What one can only hope for is the long-awaited happy ending at the end of every long adventure-filled story. When the Hero saves the day, and kills the Evil Monster Person, or at least, punishes him enough to banish him for awhile until the next episode of the series come out. Until then, let us be watchful and let us pray!
